Choosing a stack

How we pick the right platform for your brief

There is no single best stack, only the right stack for what a site needs to do. This is the short version of the technical discovery call every new client goes through.

If your site needs to…We typically build onWhy
Marketing site chasing organic search trafficNext.jsServer rendering and ISR keep every page fast and crawlable, even with thousands of programmatic landing pages.
Content hub, blog or documentationAstroShips almost no JavaScript by default, so pages load instantly and Lighthouse scores stay near perfect.
Internal tool, dashboard or configuratorReactA token-driven component library and full type safety make complex interactive UI maintainable long term.
Team publishing daily without a developer on callWordPressCustom Gutenberg blocks give editors a clean, guided authoring experience without page-builder bloat.
DTC brand or multi-currency online storeShopifyBattle-tested checkout, Markets currency routing and a huge app ecosystem for payments and fulfilment.
Marketing team that wants to move sections themselvesWebflowA class-disciplined visual build with structured CMS collections your team can actually maintain.

Performance budgets and Core Web Vitals

Every build is measured against the same targets, whatever stack it runs on. These are not aspirational — they are what we check before we call a request done.

MetricTargetWhy it matters
Largest Contentful Paint< 2.5sMeasured on a throttled mobile connection, on the templates that matter for conversion.
Interaction to Next Paint< 200msKeeps forms, menus and filters feeling instant rather than sluggish.
Cumulative Layout Shift< 0.1No jumping buttons or images while a page loads.
JavaScript shipped per pageAs little as the platform allowsAstro and static Next.js pages typically ship near zero; interactive app routes load only what that route needs.
Lighthouse performance score90+Tracked on production after every deploy, not just at handover.
Hosting and delivery

Deployed to the edge, monitored around the clock

We ship to Vercel, Cloudflare or your own cloud, with preview deploys on every request, automatic SSL, daily backups and uptime alerting included in your plan.

  • Global CDN with edge caching in 300+ locations
  • Preview URL on every request before it goes live
  • Automatic SSL, daily backups and rollbacks
  • Uptime, error and Core Web Vitals monitoring

Integrations that plug into whatever you already use

A new website should not mean ripping out the tools your team already relies on. We connect to what you have, on any stack we build.

Analytics

Google Analytics 4, Plausible, Fathom or PostHog, wired up with conversion events, not just pageviews.

CRM

HubSpot, Salesforce, Pipedrive or a custom webhook so form submissions land where your sales team already works.

Payments

Stripe, Shopify Payments or PayPal for checkout, subscriptions and one-off payments, with webhooks for order events.

Email marketing

Klaviyo, Mailchimp, HubSpot or your own ESP, connected for newsletter signup, abandoned cart flows and transactional email.

Migrating from an existing site

Most new clients arrive with a site already live somewhere. We audit the current build, map every URL and redirect, pull content and media across, and reconnect your domain and email with no downtime window you have to plan around. SEO equity — rankings, backlinks, indexed pages — is preserved through 301 redirects mapped one to one wherever the old structure allows it.

Ownership, export and no lock-in

Every stack we use is a mainstream, widely supported technology, never a proprietary page builder you cannot take with you. Your repository, CMS content and DNS records are yours from day one, and we hand over a full export whenever you ask, whether you stay with us for years or leave next month.

Accessibility and SEO, built in, not bolted on

Accessibility

Semantic HTML, keyboard-navigable menus and forms, visible focus states, colour contrast checked against WCAG 2.2 AA, and alt text on every meaningful image. Interactive components in our React library are tested with a screen reader before they ship, not just visually reviewed.

SEO

Clean semantic markup, descriptive titles and meta descriptions, canonical tags, an auto-generated sitemap, and structured data (Organization, Product, FAQ, Breadcrumb) where it applies. Server-rendered or static output on every stack means search engines see the same fast page your visitors do.

Platform questions

How do you decide which platform to build on?

We look at what the site needs to do: publish frequently, convert traffic, sell products, or serve as an internal tool. The decision guide on this page is the short version of the conversation we have with every new client during onboarding.

Can you migrate my existing site instead of starting from scratch?

Yes. We audit your current site, content and integrations, then rebuild on the right stack while preserving URLs, redirects and SEO equity wherever possible. Content and media are migrated as part of the request, not billed separately.

What happens to my code and content if I cancel?

You keep it. We hand over the full repository, CMS export, media library and DNS records whenever you ask, whether that is during an active subscription or after you leave.

Do you build in accessibility and SEO from the start, or add it later?

From the start. Semantic HTML, keyboard navigation, colour contrast, meta tags, structured data and sitemap generation are part of every build, not a separate accessibility or SEO package.

Can I bring my own developers into the project later?

Yes. Every stack we use is a mainstream, well-documented technology, not a proprietary builder. Any competent developer can pick up a Next.js, React, Astro, WordPress or Shopify codebase we hand over.

Do you support headless builds?

Yes, for WordPress and Shopify in particular. See our CMS page for the full list of headless content platforms we work with.

Not sure which stack fits?

Tell us what your team needs to publish and we will recommend the platform in your first request, at no extra cost.
