- 2. Point its nameservers to Alta Ignite.
- 3. We manage DNS and hosting; registration billing stays with them.
Registry and ICANN facts: the $0.18 ICANN transaction fee and the underlying registry fee (the amount a registrar pays the TLD operator, e.g. Verisign for .com) are both absorbed by your plan — you never see a line-item charge.

Domain questions, answered
Is the domain really free, or is it a discounted first year?
It is free for as long as your Alta Ignite plan stays active, including renewals. We cover the registry fee every year on Launch, Growth and Scale — there is no bait-and-switch renewal price.
What happens to my domain if I cancel?
You keep it. We unlock it and hand over an EPP transfer code within two business days of a cancellation request, and DNS keeps resolving until your new registrar completes the transfer.
Can I bring a domain I already own?
Yes. Point its nameservers at us or transfer it in fully, and it's covered by your plan for free from that point on — no need to wait for your current registrar's renewal date if you just repoint DNS.
Which extensions are included?
Over 400 TLDs including .com, .io, .co, .app, .dev, .shop and most country-code domains. A short list of premium/aftermarket names and a handful of restricted ccTLDs (like .ai in some cases) carry a registry surcharge, shown before you confirm.
Do you offer WHOIS privacy?
Yes, free and on by default. Our privacy proxy replaces your name, address, phone and email in public WHOIS/RDAP lookups, cutting down spam and doxxing risk. Some ccTLDs (like .de or .ca residency-gated domains) don't permit privacy by registry rule.
Is DNSSEC supported?
Yes. We can sign your zone with DNSSEC in one click, which cryptographically proves DNS responses for your domain haven't been tampered with — recommended for any domain handling logins or payments.
Can I use a subdomain or connect email elsewhere?
Absolutely. You get full DNS control — add MX, TXT, CNAME or A records for any third-party tool, or keep using our included business email. Nothing is locked down.
What if I want to transfer out while still subscribed?
You can, any time, no lock-in and no transfer-out fee from us. You'll pay the receiving registrar's normal registration price going forward for that domain, since it's leaving the free plan benefit.
