Domain Registration Agreement

This Agreement sets out the rights and obligations of Alta Ignite and domain registrants for registration, renewal, transfer, dispute resolution and DNS management of domain names purchased through Alta Ignite.

1. Parties and scope

1.1 This Domain Registration Agreement governs the registration, renewal, transfer and management of domain names by Alta Ignite B.V. ("Alta Ignite"), acting as a reseller of ICANN-accredited registrar services, on behalf of any customer ("Registrant") who registers, renews or transfers a domain name through Alta Ignite, including domains included free with a subscription plan.
1.2 By registering, renewing or transferring a domain through Alta Ignite, the Registrant also agrees to be bound by the ICANN Registrar Accreditation Agreement (RAA), the applicable registry operator's terms, and, where relevant, the Expired Registration Recovery Policy (ERRP), the Transfer Policy and the Uniform Domain-Name Dispute-Resolution Policy (UDRP), each as incorporated by reference and amended from time to time.
1.3 Country-code top-level domains (ccTLDs) are additionally subject to the terms of the relevant national registry, which may impose local presence, eligibility or documentation requirements outside ICANN's authority.

2. Registrant obligations and accurate WHOIS data

2.1 The Registrant must submit and keep current accurate, complete registrant, administrative and technical contact information for WHOIS and Registration Data Access Protocol (RDAP) publication or, where privacy service is enabled, escrow with Alta Ignite.
2.2 The Registrant warrants that the domain name registration does not infringe or violate the rights of any third party and is not registered for an unlawful purpose.
2.3 The Registrant must promptly update contact information within 7 days of any change, via the account dashboard or by written request to legal@altaignite.com.
2.4 Failure to maintain accurate WHOIS data is a material breach of this Agreement and of the ICANN RAA, and may result in verification requests, suspension or cancellation under clause 3.

3. Verification and suspension for inaccurate data

3.1 Alta Ignite may, at any time, send a verification notice to the email address on file requiring the Registrant to confirm or correct WHOIS contact data, consistent with ICANN's WHOIS Accuracy Program Specification.
3.2 If the Registrant fails to respond within 15 calendar days, or data is confirmed false or unreachable, Alta Ignite may suspend resolution of the domain until the data is corrected.
3.3 Continued failure to correct inaccurate data within a further 15 calendar days may result in cancellation of the registration without refund of registry fees, save as provided in the Refund, Cancellation and Billing Policy.

4. Registrant rights

4.1 The Registrant is entitled to the rights set out in the ICANN Registrants' Rights and Responsibilities statement, including the right to be provided clear renewal and expiration terms, the right to transfer the domain to another ICANN-accredited registrar, and the right to accurate billing.
4.2 The Registrant is entitled to obtain the authorization code (EPP/Auth-Info code) required to transfer the domain, subject to clause 8.
4.3 The Registrant retains full control over DNS records, nameservers and DNSSEC settings for the domain through the Alta Ignite dashboard, save where privacy or registry-level restrictions apply.

5. Term, renewal and expiry (ERRP)

5.1 Domain registrations are made for the term selected at checkout (typically one year) and, unless cancelled, renew automatically in accordance with the Expired Registration Recovery Policy timeline described below.
5.2 Alta Ignite will send renewal reminder notices no fewer than two times before expiration, consistent with ERRP's minimum notice requirements, and will attempt to notify the Registrant both before and after expiration if the domain lapses.
5.3 If a domain is not renewed by its expiration date, it enters an Auto-Renew Grace Period of up to 45 days, during which the Registrant may renew the domain at the standard renewal fee.
5.4 If not renewed during the grace period, the domain enters a Redemption Grace Period of up to 30 days, during which it is suspended and can only be restored on payment of a registry-mandated redemption fee, materially higher than the standard renewal fee, disclosed to the Registrant at the time.
5.5 Following the Redemption Grace Period, the domain enters a final Pending Delete period of approximately 5 days, after which it is released for general registration and cannot be recovered by the Registrant.

6. Auto-renewal

6.1 Domains are set to auto-renew by default using the payment method on file, charged in advance of the expiration date.
6.2 The Registrant may disable auto-renewal at any time via the dashboard; doing so does not cancel an already-active registration but will prevent automatic billing at the next expiry.
6.3 Registration, renewal and redemption fees are non-refundable as set out in the Refund, Cancellation and Billing Policy, reflecting registry costs incurred by Alta Ignite at the moment of registration.

7. Free domain inclusion

7.1 Subscription plans include one domain name per active plan, limited to standard generic top-level domain extensions designated by Alta Ignite from time to time (including .com, .net, .org and a defined list of other gTLDs); premium, aftermarket and certain ccTLD extensions are excluded and available at additional cost.
7.2 The free domain is registered in the Registrant's name and remains the Registrant's property, subject to the clawback in clause 7.3.
7.3 If the subscription is cancelled, downgraded below eligibility, or terminated for breach within 12 months of the domain being provisioned, Alta Ignite may invoice the Registrant for the domain at Alta Ignite's cost price (the amount remitted to the registry), payable within 14 days, as a condition of continued control of the domain in the Registrant's account.
7.4 Renewal of a free-inclusion domain beyond its first term is charged at the standard renewal rate unless the qualifying subscription remains active, in which case one domain renewal per plan year continues to be included.

8. Transfers out (to another registrar)

8.1 The Registrant may request the domain's authorization code (EPP code) via the dashboard or by emailing legal@altaignite.com, provided the domain is unlocked, at least 60 days have passed since initial registration or a prior transfer, and there is no unresolved payment dispute.
8.2 Under the ICANN Transfer Policy, a domain is subject to a 60-day inter-registrar transfer lock following initial registration and following any completed transfer; transfer requests within this lock period will be declined until it expires.
8.3 A change of registrant contact information constituting a change of registrant under the Transfer Policy may itself trigger a further 60-day lock, of which the Registrant will be notified before the change is applied.
8.4 Alta Ignite will approve a valid, properly authorized transfer request (Form of Authorization, or FOA) within 5 calendar days as required by the Transfer Policy, unless a permitted ground for denial applies (for example, non-payment, evidence of fraud, a UDRP or court proceeding, or a written request from the Registrant within the preceding 60 days to lock the domain).

9. Transfers in (from another registrar)

9.1 To transfer a domain to Alta Ignite, the Registrant must provide the current authorization code and confirm the transfer via the Form of Authorization sent to the registrant email of record.
9.2 The domain must be unlocked at the losing registrar and not within 60 days of a prior registration or transfer.
9.3 A completed transfer automatically extends the registration term by one year, subject to the 10-year maximum registration term permitted by ICANN policy, and resets the 60-day transfer lock under clause 8.2.

10. Domain locking

10.1 Alta Ignite applies a registrar transfer lock (clientTransferProhibited status) by default to protect against unauthorized transfers.
10.2 The Registrant may request the lock be lifted via the dashboard to initiate an outbound transfer, subject to clause 8.

11. WHOIS, RDAP and privacy/proxy service

11.1 Standard WHOIS and RDAP output for each domain displays the Registrant's submitted contact data unless privacy/proxy service is enabled, in which case a proxy contact is displayed and the underlying Registrant data is held by Alta Ignite or its designated privacy provider.
11.2 Privacy/proxy service is not available for certain ccTLDs and gTLDs where the registry mandates public display of registrant data, or where the Registrant is verified as a business/commercial registrant under registry rules that exclude such registrants from privacy eligibility.
11.3 Alta Ignite will disclose the underlying Registrant's identity behind a privacy/proxy service in response to a valid court order, a UDRP or URS proceeding naming the domain, a bona fide law enforcement request, or a properly substantiated intellectual property complaint, consistent with the ICANN Temporary Specification for gTLD Registration Data and applicable privacy/proxy accreditation requirements.
11.4 The Registrant remains solely responsible for the accuracy of the underlying data notwithstanding the use of a privacy/proxy service.

12. Dispute resolution (UDRP and URS)

12.1 Domain name disputes alleging abusive or bad-faith registration are subject to the Uniform Domain-Name Dispute-Resolution Policy (UDRP) and, for eligible gTLDs, the Uniform Rapid Suspension System (URS), each administered by an ICANN-approved dispute resolution provider.
12.2 The Registrant submits to the mandatory administrative proceeding provisions of the UDRP/URS as a condition of registering a domain through Alta Ignite and agrees that Alta Ignite will implement the decision of the applicable panel, including transfer, cancellation or lock of the domain.
12.3 Alta Ignite will lock a domain that is the subject of a filed UDRP or URS complaint on notice from the dispute provider, preventing transfer or deletion pending resolution.
12.4 Nothing in this clause prevents either party from submitting the underlying dispute to a court of competent jurisdiction before or after a UDRP/URS proceeding, as permitted by the UDRP.

13. ccTLD-specific rules

13.1 Certain country-code extensions impose additional eligibility criteria, such as local presence, local registrant agent requirements, or restricted use categories, as published by the relevant national registry.
13.2 Where a ccTLD registry requires a local presence, Alta Ignite may provide a local registrant agent or trustee service, subject to a separate fee and the registry's own terms, disclosed to the Registrant before purchase.
13.3 ccTLD dispute resolution, renewal grace periods and redemption terms follow the applicable national registry's own policy rather than the ERRP or UDRP where the two differ.

14. DNSSEC

14.1 Alta Ignite supports DNS Security Extensions (DNSSEC) for domains hosted on its managed DNS, enabling cryptographic signing of DNS records to protect against spoofing and cache-poisoning attacks.
14.2 DNSSEC may be enabled or disabled by the Registrant through the dashboard; enabling DNSSEC on a domain using external nameservers requires the Registrant to correctly publish the corresponding DS records at the registry, and Alta Ignite is not responsible for resolution failures caused by incorrectly configured DS records at a third-party DNS provider.
14.3 Disabling DNSSEC or changing nameservers on a signed domain may cause a temporary resolution delay while changes propagate through the DNS hierarchy; the Registrant should follow the recommended sequencing shown in the dashboard to avoid a resolution outage.

15. Registrar as limited agent

15.1 In registering, renewing or transferring domains, Alta Ignite acts as a reseller and limited agent for the purpose of transmitting registration instructions to its ICANN-accredited registrar partner and the relevant registry operator; it does not itself hold the ICANN registrar accreditation for every TLD it resells.
15.2 The Registrant acknowledges that the underlying registry operator and registrar of record retain ultimate technical control over the domain name system entries for the TLD in question.

16. Indemnity

16.1 The Registrant agrees to indemnify and hold harmless Alta Ignite, its underlying ICANN-accredited registrar, the relevant registry operator, and ICANN itself, from and against any claims, damages, liabilities, costs and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from the Registrant's registration or use of the domain name, including claims of trademark or other intellectual property infringement, in a manner consistent with the indemnification provisions required under the ICANN RAA.
16.2 This indemnity survives termination of this Agreement and expiry, transfer or cancellation of the domain name.

17. Limitation of liability

17.1 To the maximum extent permitted by Dutch law, Alta Ignite's aggregate liability arising out of or relating to domain registration services is limited to the fees paid by the Registrant for the affected domain in the 12 months preceding the claim.
17.2 Alta Ignite is not liable for loss of a domain name resulting from registry system failure, ICANN policy action, force majeure, or the Registrant's own failure to maintain accurate contact data or timely renewal payment.
17.3 Nothing in this clause excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited under Dutch law, including liability for intent or wilful recklessness (opzet of bewuste roekeloosheid) of Alta Ignite's management.

18. Suspension and termination

18.1 Alta Ignite may suspend or cancel a domain registration for non-payment, breach of this Agreement, a valid UDRP/URS decision, a court order, or evidence of fraudulent registration, consistent with the ICANN RAA and Registrar Transfer Policy.
18.2 On termination of the underlying subscription other than under clause 7, the domain remains registered and under the Registrant's control provided applicable renewal fees continue to be paid directly to Alta Ignite or, following a transfer out under clause 8, to a subsequent registrar.

19. Amendments

19.1 Alta Ignite may amend this Agreement to reflect changes in ICANN policy, registry requirements or applicable law, with notice provided by email or dashboard notice at least 30 days before the change takes effect, except where a shorter period is mandated by ICANN or a registry operator.
19.2 Continued use of domain registration services after the effective date of an amendment constitutes acceptance of the amended Agreement.

20. Governing law and contact

20.1 This Agreement is governed by the laws of the Netherlands and subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent court in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, without prejudice to the Registrant's right to invoke the UDRP/URS or any mandatory consumer protection under the law of their residence.
